On a chilly overcast morning Sinfin Sharks were back at Chaddesden Park to play Chesapeake for the last time this season, the Sharks had lost both previous encounters between the teams.
Sinfin started the match quite well but they still handed the early initiative to Chesapeake when they fell 1-0 behind in the 4th minute, the ball was toe poked past Jake from 12 yards out and nestled just inside his right hand post.
A minute later another Chesapeake strike went wide of the Sinfin goal but on 8 minutes the Sharks went 2-0 down, Chesapeake broke down the left flank before cutting in towards goal and a terrific cross shot was just out of Jake’s reach as it hit the net just inside his left hand upright.
In the 11th minute Sinfin had their first effort of the game, Richard won a 50/50 tackle and the ball fell to Aston whose shot from 20 yards out was comfortably saved by a well positioned keeper.
On 14 minutes Chesapeake broke through the center of Sinfin’s defence and although Jake made a great save with his legs, the rebound fell kindly for the home side and the ball was headed over Jake and into the net to give Chesapeake a 3-0 advantage.
Half way through the first half a poor Chesapeake strike went well wide of the Sharks goal, then three minutes later Adam blocked a dangerous looking Chesapeake shot out for a corner.
Sinfin were most unfortunate not to score in the 25th minute, Aston held the ball up well before releasing Thomas on the right hand side of the area, Thomas hit his strike brilliantly and would have found the top corner had the Chesapeake keeper not made an outstanding one handed save.
Two minutes later the Sharks were unlucky again, this time Richard created an opening for Aston who finished tremendously but unfortunately the flag was raised for a tight offside decision.
On the half hour mark Adam made a last ditch tackle to prevent Chesapeake breaking through on goal, then a minute later it was the Sharks on the attack when from 20 yards out Jeeves’s good strike at goal flew two yards wide of the target.
A tremendous tackle from Ranveer saved the Sharks in the 32nd minute, from the resulting corner a Chesapeake head was first to the ball and sent it just wide of Sinfin’s goal.
As the half came to an end both teams had one further chance to score, Richard shot from distance but could not beat the Chesapeake keeper and then Adam blocked Chesapeake’s shot out for a corner.
Half Time: Chesapeake 3 Sinfin Sharks 0
The home side almost made the perfect start to the 2nd half, but just as they were about to shoot at the Sinfin goal Ranveer put in an excellent tackle 12 yards out in a central position.
Chesapeake were dominating at this stage and the Sharks were struggling to get out of their own half, in the 46th minute a good Chesapeake shot went just wide of Jake’s left hand side upright.
On 51 minutes a right wing Chesapeake cross was just too high for its intended target and was headed comfortably wide of the Sinfin goal, then two minutes later Chesapeake’s next effort also failed to hit the target as it flew well wide of goal.
Chesapeake almost scored in the 55th minute but their shot hit the side netting on its way out for a Sinfin goalkick, then from a Chesapeake corner Jake cleared the danger with a terrific punch.
The Sharks fell 4-0 behind on 57 minutes from another Chesapeake corner, the ball was bouncing around 10 yards from goal before a Chesapeake boot smacked it into the roof of Sinfin’s net.
On 62 minutes Elliott played a beautiful ball through the Chesapeake defence and Aston was only just beaten to it as the home keeper dived bravely down to pounce on it, collecting a knock in the process.
Sinfin were featuring more as an attacking force at this stage and in the 69th minute almost got a deserved goal for their efforts, Aston hit a brilliant shot which forced the Chesapeake keeper into another tremendous one handed save as he dived across to his left hand side.
The next chance also fell to Sinfin, Oliver won the ball in midfield and from 22 yards out shot at goal, but he did not quite connect as he would have liked and the ball drifted wide of the Chesapeake goal.
On 73 minutes another terrific Elliott through ball almost put Thomas in on goal, then Chesapeake attacked and this time Jake was untroubled as the shot at goal went comfortably wide.
Then Chesapeake were awarded a free kick out on the right hand side, the ball was whipped in towards goal and Jake did really well to tip it out for a corner, from this corner the ball fell loose inside the Sharks area and a Chesapeake boot smashed it into the net off the underside of the bar, it was now 5-0 to the home side.
Straight from the restart Chesapeake wasted a glorious chance to score again, then in the 77th minute Jordan picked up the ball on the left flank and went on a tremendous run beating two defenders before crossing for Richard who was beaten to the ball by good Chesapeake defending.
The Sharks conceded a sixth goal in the final minute, Chesapeake shot at goal from 12 yards out and again the ball hit the underside of Sinfin’s bar before bouncing down into the net.
Final Score: Chesapeake 6 Sinfin Sharks 0
So Chesapeake beat the Sharks for the third time this season, it was not all one way traffic though as Sinfin played their part in an entertaining match and they would have got on the scoresheet had the home keeper not been in such inspiring form.
For a terrific performance in the Sinfin central defence, Ranveer was named the Sharks man of the match.
